Outcomers is hosting two trainings on LGBT+ Awareness for anything working with young people. One in Dundalk, Louth on November 26th, and one in Navan, Meath on December 9th.

Through the day’s training, participants will take part in several workshops, including the following:
- LGBT+ Awareness Workshop
- Lived Experiences of LGBT people workshop
- How to support young trans people’s workshop
- How to support young LGB people’s workshop
- How to become an ally to LGBT people workshop
The training is for anyone who works or volunteers with young people, who would like to support LGBTI+ young people better.
Volunteers:
- The training will give volunteers the tools to better support their follow volunteers who may be part of the LGBTI+ community or have family and friends who are.
- This training will help you as a volunteer deliver your service in a more holistic way, it will give you the confidence to use language and have conversations that in the past you may have been worried about doing so.
- It will give you a better understanding of the issues associated with being part of the LGBTI+ community and the confidence to support people who are LGBTI+ on their journey.
- It will enhance your skills and make you as a volunteer a more sought after, having this experience will make you a more valued member of a team and will give you the confidence to meet challenges relating to sexual orientation and gender identity in a professional manner.
Youth Workers`and Health Care Professionals:
- Will give you the tools to respond to the needs of young people in your care
- it will help you feel confident to address issues relating to Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity
- this training will give you the confidence to use language that you may not have felt you could previously, or to have conversations with young people about this
- it will give you a better understanding or the issues and as a result will give you the confidence to be able to support someone who has needs relating to their Gender identity or sexual orientation.
- It will give you the confidence to challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia to be better equipped to explain the importance and value of supporting young people who are LGBTI+.
- It will give you the ability to celebrate young people in all of their glory and create a person who they see as someone who “gets” them and is happy to have their back.
