Survey for LGBTQ+ Youth Needs Analysis in the North East Region

news

You can access the survey here.

This survey is about the needs of LGBT+ young people in the north east; Louth/ Meath and Cavan/Monaghan area. This consultation is part of a broader project to identify the gaps in services for LGBTI+ young people across the north east and to ascertain how Outcomers could advocate for them amongst partners and mainstream providers.

We are currently seeking the views of LGBT+ Young People living in Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan.

It is hoped that one outcome of this need’s analysis would be a 3 year strategy followed by an action plan that will support the development of support services for LGBTI+ young people in the north east to enable LGBTI+ young people to have improved access to a range of social and emotional support services. It is also envisaged that this interaction will provide collaborative opportunities for public, private and community stakeholders as a response to the identified need confirmed by the young people.

It is hoped that as a result of your input that we will have get first-hand information on what exists, whether there are gaps and what supports you would like to see in place for young LGBT+ people.

Aibhlín McCrann, Communiqué International is undertaking this work on our behalf.

The survey will be available to complete until October 17th.

Context

Outcomers has provided services for LGBTI+ people in the North East Region for over 20 years. We aim to support and empower the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community in a safe and welcoming environment in order to advance the quality of their lives.  We also aim to raise awareness of and challenge the discrimination and injustice in society, while supporting organisations to implement equality and inclusiveness policies.

Outcomers also regularly provides guidance and support to organisations who are involved in supporting young LGBTI+ people. Our centre is located in the centre of Dundalk and attracts LGBTI+ people ranging in age from 10 – 70 years of age. We currently provide a Youth Service attracting over 100 young LGBTI+ people each week from across Louth.  We have supported the development of LGBTI+ youth services in Monaghan, Meath and Cavan and are actively supporting the development of LGBTI+ youth services in mid Louth.
